About Me
From an early age, I have always wanted to understand people and have been curious to find out why we behave in the way we do and what causes us to behave differently. This curiosity led me to travel in the '70s for 7 years. The more I travelled and met different cultures and experienced different values and ways of behaving, the more curious I became and the more I travelled.
During this period I also began a very deep inner journey. I wanted to know who I was, to understand and appreciate my uniqueness and to make sense of my purpose in life.
Eventually, and perhaps not surprisingly, I settled down to working with people in the travel industry. Responsible for human resources, training and development I worked with both individuals and groups to help unfold their potential.
During this period, as part of both my personal and professional development, I undertook an eight-year training in Counselling, Psychotherapy and Supervision at the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education in Maida Vale, London. (CLICK HERE for further details). This Centre is accredited by both The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I began my own practice in London, in 1993.
Since then I have continued to work with individuals and groups and having married and started a family became particularly interested in relationships and the dynamics between people. I subsequently trained as an Imago Relationship Therapist and became Chairperson of Imago UK. For more information about Imago Relationship Therapy see the Imago page.
I moved with my family to Bristol and began my therapy practice here in February 2006.
I do not have a prescribed way of working with clients neither do I use a particular model. The training I have undergone has been eclectic and together with my understanding of self, my personal experience of life and people from a broad range of cultures, I have developed my own style focusing on the uniqueness of each individual client, or couple, and my relationship with them. I use whatever approach I feel will most support and facilitate their healing and unfoldment.
